What to Fear

Heights, crowds, and elevators.

Overview

Travel to dizzying new heights with a trip to the top of Skydeck Chicago’s The Ledge. The exhilarating attraction is located over 100 stories up on the world-famous Willis Tower. Take a brisk elevator ride up to one of the tallest buildings in the Western Hemisphere. Once you reach the observation level you’ll be greeted by breathtaking panoramic views of Chicago. Venture out onto a glass balcony and look straight down at the tiny people and cars below. On a clear day a view from the former Sears Tower lets you see Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and of course, Illinois. Check out Navy Pier, Wrigley Field, Millenium Park and Lake Michigan from above. Interactive displays and exhibits tell the story of the building and the surrounding city. The observation deck also offers fantastic daytime views as well as awe-inspiring twinkling night views of Chicago.

What’s the worst that could happen?

What if your mobile phone battery dies before you can show your mobile tickets? What if you’re denied entry during the metal detector screening? How sturdy is the observation glass? Will it hold? What if you accidentally wear baseball cleats? What if you’re walking to the Willis Tower and something falls off of another skyscraper and hits you? What if it’s really windy and the building falls over? What if you get so nervous you throw up into a mug in the gift shop? Will you have to buy the mug? What if the view is too overwhelming and you faint? What if it’s a cloudy day and you can’t see anything?
